Dr. Nicolle Arbelaez Lopez is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and iaedp Approved Supervisor practicing in Weston since 2006. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and both her master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her doctoral internship at Southern Illinois University’s Counseling Center and her post-doctoral residency at The Renfrew Center of South Florida.

From May 2006-May 2008, Dr. Nicolle was working at The Renfrew Center of South Florida, the country’s first residential treatment facility for woman with eating disorders. While there, she was an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, conducted individual and family therapy, and she lead a Mealtime Support Therapy group as well as an Interpersonal Relationships group, part of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Dr. Nicolle has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. She works with clients with a variety of diagnoses and issues including but not limited to depression, anxiety, adjustment, separation and loss, divorce, identity difficulties and stage of life concerns. In addition, she specializes in the treatment of eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, eating disorder(s) not otherwise specified), body image distress, relationship issues, trauma and substance abuse.

Dr. Nicolle is the Past President for the South Florida Chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) from 2014-2016. She also served as the Vice President for the South Florida Chapter’s Executive Board from 2010-2014.

She is a professional member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Florida Psychological Association (FPA), International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) and the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). Dr. Arbelaez Lopez was also an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Dr. Nicolle is an ongoing guest speaker at several community events that focus on mental health issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. In addition, she gives back to the community by co-facilitating a support group for families and loved ones struggling with eating disorders in the West Broward area.
